The advent of May draws us one step closer to winter – the supposed low point of the Melbourne property calendar. But, the dreaded cold is not upon us yet, as evidenced by the rush of vendors selling their properties this month.

The Melbourne residential property market came out firing at the weekend, closing the month of April with a bang. According to REIV, Victoria saw an average auction clearance rate of 78% for the month, a significant increase on last April’s 71%.

Increasing number of properties passing in not necessarily a reflection of waning interest levels.

The market responded positively with open for inspections well-attended across the city, confirming buyer interest remains strong – a sentiment reflected by high and stable clearance rates and strong competition among multiple bidders at many auctions.
